An ordinance that would outlaw most of the estimated 1,000 medical marijuana dispensaries in Los Angeles will be discussed Monday at a joint session of the City Council's Public Safety and Planning and Land Use committees. Under the proposed ordinance, medical marijuana "collectives'' would be allowed to grow pot for members with serious illnesses, but could not sell marijuana for a profit, and collectives could have no more than five pounds of dried pot or 100 plants at any given time.

INGLEWOOD — A bomb squad had to be called out Saturday when someone brought a live hand grenade to a "Gifts for Guns" exchange in Inglewood, a police lieutenant said.
Police had offered $100 gift cards for each weapon surrendered at the parking lot behind the Target and Home Depot stores at 3471 Century Blvd., but were not expecting the grenade, said Lt. Mike McBride. The bomb squad disposed of the weapon. Because police had promised "no questions asked," no one was arrested for possessing the explosive device.
Residents could anonymously turn in up to three firearms in exchange for the gift cards.
In all, Inglewood police collected 157 guns and one hand grenade.

Obama Doc airs 11/3 on HBO

The documentary "By The People:The Election of Barak Obama" is set to air November 3 on HBO, a day short of one year after Obama's historic election into the nations (worlds) highest office. During the entire campaign/voting/election process I myself was always thinking of the day HBO would show us the film documenting the entire thing as they did with Clinton and Bush. Good thing filmmakers Alicia Sams and Amy Rice had the vision long before I did as the footage is said to begin almost a year prior to Obama's announcement to run for President. I know "Obama Fever" has cooled off for several of you folks and has since been replaced by fear of "The Swine Flu". However, this should be interesting.
